Why won't Prezi for iPad display embedded PDF files?
I have a prezi that has an embeded PDF file. Works fine from IE 8. But on my iPad, iOS 4.2, the PDF does not display. I can view PDF files with several othet iPad apps but not within the prezi.
-
Dear Peter,
the current version of prezi ipad doesn't support the pdf display. It's an annoying limitation but first we focused on texts, frames, images, path.
Thank you for giving a try.

Seems like a big item to leave off of the initial app, given how much users have been directed to use .pdf files as a workaround for ensuring image clarity (getting vector-quality images that hold up well with the zooming function).
I love having the app for the iPad -- but would have been willing to wait a while longer if it meant knowing that I'd be able to show my Prezis without problems.
Thanks in advance for jumping on this one for an early update.- view 6 more comments

You're welcome :-)

OK you started with texts, frames, images and path. But when do you think this PDF problem will be solved?

I suppose being able to show pdf's is not simple, as pdf's are now converted to swf, and we all know Apple does not like swf ;-0
However, according to this post: http://techblog.floorplanner.com/2010...
iPad can play svg...
And there just happens to be (static) swf to svg translators, see:
http://swf2svg.sourceforge.net/

Guys, you should not launch a product when it is obviously not ready.
You must invest more in development. I had nothing but trouble with Prezi thus far.
Actually, I laughed after Prezi for iPad didn ́t show my pdfs. What else could I expect from this company ?! You had the best idea in the area of presentations and you are destroying it with bugs and more bugs.-
I love prezi and think it's an awesome product! The fact that it has some limitations, albeit very important ones, does not take away from the awesomeness of it and the idea of it!

Thanks for working on this issue.

Yes, Prezi is a cool product, i understand and accept some sort of quick & dirty release politics, but pleeeease fix this one. Ooo and by the way, if you could do something for the videos on the iPad, that would be killer app.

Worked ALL afternoon to prepare a Prezi, finished it, drove to borrow an iPad from someone who's letting my nonprofit use it for presentations, only to open my Prezi on it and then see that PDFs didn't display. Thanks for the waste of an entire day AND a failed presentation, now that I don't have enough time to re-create the project with something other than embedded PDFs. Not to mention, PDFs were the ONLY way that my text as images would display in an acceptable resolution without being ridiculously pixelated.
FAIL Prezi. Epic FAIL.- view 1 more comment

Please watch your language, both! The current limits of the iPad app are listed on http://prezi.com/learn/ipad-support/, please consult them before a purchase. There is no need to to insult Prezi for these limitations, nor to insult other users if they forgot to check.

It's funny. Apple sells a cool looking sh*t working piece of machinery worth $800 that cannot read flash because they say so, and people get mad at Prezi. This is like getting mad at web designers because their webs can't be seen on IE6.

Hi there, seem's like we have experienced the same issue.
Is there a work around to get the prezi working on an iPad in the short term?
we have a huge prezi presentation with all PDF images that needs to be displayed on the iPad for a conference.
please advise,
thank you
D-
an app called ISwifter. Open browser within that app. Get to the Prezi website and see your presentation.

So I tried this. It might work o.k. in an "emergency". It was very slow going but I could view a wide variety of formats. I could also "edit" the Prezi. I could add text and change the size/color of the font. This app has a free 7 day trial and then a subscription charge. Would only be worth it in a last minute--"must have" situation. It's not a long-term fix.

Its not only .pdf's - also imported graphics, thats been converted to .swg by prezi. None of my many presentations work.
-

Bought a book on how to get better image quality on prezi. None of my prezis work because it's all made of swf and pdf. The only way, for now, is to open prezi in a browser of another app... ISwifter, though functionnality of ipad controls is gone here but controls are the same as with a mouse on a computer.

I uploaded pdfs into my prezi presentation and when I view them on the iPad app, they are not viewable. Any suggestions?

d'Oh! It seems like every time I think I accomplish something in Prezi, there is some key downfall, in this case the iPad app not displaying pdf's, than makes all my effort seem like a waste of time.
The downfall of Prezi really catching on will be that months or years go by after many users note basic problems and no indication from Prezi on a timeline for when to expect a fix. -
-
so i have some .pdf's to import, which file type should i import them into Prezi as so they look the cleanest?
-

I agree with many of the comments here. This is such an important feature. Why would you be talking about new products coming when the existing products don't work. Sure we could read then "fine print". I never have to read the fine print from apps I depend on.
-
-
@Gregory I use the snapshot feature in Acrobat reader and then export to PNG. Pretty clean and reasonable file size. Do set the correct DPI setting for snapshots, I use 300dpi for a screen filling (normally A0-sized) cad drawing, which results in a usable 10megapixel snapshot. For simple images or text a 72dpi snapshot will do.

Seems like a potential workaround, but why doesn't Prezi do this on the server? It seems like it wouldn't be a lot of work on their end and would avoid disappointment and frustration for customers.

I use this tip => in my powerpoint I save as with the Gif format. I import the gif images I have saved (really quick and simple) and I use them for may prezi. No more problem with the iPad apps and really easy to change one page of the prezi
-
-
Please fix this soon!!! Need it badly makes for great presentations! I use it in class, my students all have ipads and it would be easier for them to view the document directly in prezi.
PLEASE!!! Important feature! -

The solution is to use the webbased version on your Ipad. I don't use the ipad app any more, instead I use splashtop to connect to my office PC and use its chrome to view and use prezi.com.
Not ideal for all, I know - but for me,it works.

there is a web navigator on Ipad, the question is : does it have a "full screen" display ?
(I don't have an Ipad, but I'm interested for others to read my prezis ...) -
-
I know you guys are working on it, and a "me too" is probably not useful, but
me too
I have moved my entire classroom workflow to my ipad, and prezi is the only holdover. I use prezi for my first lecture (the dry course information stuff) and it works great, but it means that I need to take my laptop for the first class, and then use my ipad for everything else.
Please, Please, PDFs. -

at least 8 months waiting for a solution and counting ...

Jorge, you can upgrade now

Thank you for the solution! Now I can uwe my prezis again. They now show my swf-drawings and pdf-docs! Thank Prezi for making it work!

Great news!
Just downloaded the iPad app update (v2.3) supporting both PDF & SWF and it's just great!
Thank you! -

When you touch the App Store thumbnail you will see on the bottom right the Updates icon. Touch it and you'll see all the updates that are available for your installed applications. Update the one from Prezi. If the app is no longer install on your iPad, search for "Prezi Viewer" in the App Store with your iPad and install it.
Enjoy! -

Coolishious! Worked perfectly! Check the praise section for my comment. Way to go, Prezi!

Thanks for the feedback. Also we have a frequently updated iPad support article, which includes all recent releases and versions here: http://prezi.com/learn/ipad-support/

I’m
sorry you are having trouble, and I am here to help.
Hi Aykut,
is there more to this error message than "Failed to upload media"? Do you still have free storage space in your Prezi account? Are PreziDesktop, Adobe AIR and *.prezi.com allowed through your firewall?
I can try uploading it for you, if you sent the .pez file via some 1-click file hosting service and provide your Prezi user ID (the "Custom Link" on your"Settings & License" page).
Kind regards,

Hi,
Great that you found a way to make the pdf includes work, BUT...
Is it possible that your own iPad workaround includes replacing all vector graphics with bitmaps? Because I'm working with a PDF as the background for my presentation and the iPad version of the Prezi looks all blurry.
Please try to keep the vector graphics on the iPad. :( -

hola, tengo problemas para abrir mis prezis antiguos, me sale un aviso que dice que mi prezi no existe, ¿que hago?

Hi There,
I'm using the Prezi online editor on Mozilla Firefox and have imported an enhanced graphic .pdf file that was created using Adobe Illustrator. The PDF looks great on the online editor, even when I zoom into various areas. I am trying to view the presentation on the Prezi for iPad, and when I zoom into areas, the PDF becomes blurry. I've tried importing the .pdf in various hi-res and low-res formats, also tried re-sizing the .pdf file, and none of those options have helped. What gives? -
-
can you send me you pdf to
kalman at prezi dot com ?
i would like to check it. -
-
just for the record.
the workaround was to use high resolution pdf or jpg and use this, because we will convert pdf/swf files to bitmap on iPad devices. -
-
I have been using a .pdf created in illustrator CS6 as a background image for my 'example' prezi and it is blurry on an iPad with the Prezi app downloaded yesterday. Is the only way round this to create a copy of my Prezi for iPads and use pixel file types while keeping my vector .pdf for the desktop version! Is this what you would recommend as it is potentially a very big issue?
I work for a presentation company with a few clients interested in this software and currently these bugs which have continuously come up are proving a big hassle and very unfavourable to encouraging Prezi use. -
-
This picture is blurry, because we convert it to a bitmap on iPad.
This is a limitation. -

I'm giving a Prezi presentation for my university colleagues using my iPad2. The embedded pdf links do not work with the iPad, but do just fine on the computer. I see that others have asked this question. Can you tell us what the expected timeline is for being able to do this, especially since many other apps are capable of viewing the hyperlinks?
