I am trying to import images that do not have backgrounds wither square or rectangular. No matter how much I try to import an image created in Photoshop and converted to either JPG or PDF, the blank backgrounds are imported as white.
Simple example: I edit a Photoshop image of a flower so that there is no content outside the actual flower petals. Usually maintaining the antialias characteristics would wipe out everything that was without specific color information.
My reasons for wanting to achieve this should be obvious when placing an image on top of any colored background. Can and does Prezi support this and if so, how can I make this work?
Please help anyone!

To achieve this effect, you just need to save your file as .PNG. This will enable you to have a transparent background when imported to prezi.

tell us exactly what didn't work : the saving itself or the transparent background?
for the transparent background, you have to specify this in your application (photoshop, gimp...) -

oh... do i have to use photoshop or gimp to get this to work- i tried saving it as a png on paint
ps- it was the background WHILE it was on prezi that was the issue -

You have to delete the background in what ever program you are editing the image with. I do not believe this is possible with paint. I believe you can only make the background white, not delete it entirely.

HI all,
I'm sorry to come back to this topic (again).
So far so good. I was able to export to a PNG file with a tranparant back ground. But, the quality isn't high enough. When you start zooming on the picture you start to see the pixels, which isn't nice at all.
Any other options?

If you are working with an actual image then unfortunately this is the best way.
If you are working with a graphic you can turn it into a vector based graphic and save it as a swf file using adobe illustrator if you have access.

The source file is a vector based graphic. I saw that it indeed can be saved as SWF and that the transparancy will be preserved.
Problem is that I did the export with a trail version of Illustrator as GIMP is not able to do it .... :-(.

Dear whoever can help..
I am using gimp, and used the eraser to delete all the edges. I exported the image as a .png, but when it showed up in prezi, it had a white background. Any suggestions? Is this the right tool to be using in gimp? Thanks! -

I had an issue with GIMP at first too, but when I checked in windows I saw my PNG had a white background color there as well. I played with some other settings, like when export the PNG you have a bullet list, I clicked include background (which was clear), I anchored my layers and I converted the color from RGB to indexed including transparency and then it worked. Good luck. -
