Spanish characters, Chrome
Spanish accents were working on Prezi until about a week ago. I can type an inverted question mark and ñ, but no accented vowels. I have tried this in Google Chrome and Firefox. I am running Ubuntu 11.10. The accents do work in Chrome on Windows XP.

hello Ted,
only the 2 first prezi's theme have europeans fonts.
tell me if it's ok with those.

Thanks for the reply, Nathalie.
Using the blank template, which I think defaults to the first theme, I cannot get Prezi to place accents above vowels. I don't have this problem with Chrome on a Windows XP machine.
This problem occurred suddenly. About a week ago, I tried a Prezi with the Spanish keyboard in Ubuntu like always, but the accents would not appear.-
maybe try to update Ubuntu ?
you can do it on chrome, have I understand correctly ? -

I think the problem is on the Prezi end. I have Ubuntu on three machines, all with the latest version. Neither Chrome nor Firefox enables me to enter accented characters with the keyboard.
What's strange is that I can cut and paste accented letters from another source. What does not work is typing accented letters with the keyboard.
Everything worked flawlessly until about a week ago. Is it possible Prezi changed some code?
Thanks,

Same problem. Portuguese accents always worked fine on my Ubuntu+Latest Chrome. Last week it stopped working, even on basic themes. Did you guys change any code related to that?

I wonder if this is Flash related. I can enter Spanish accents when naming the presentation, before the editor loads, which I assume is Flash-powered.
That Spanish and Portuguese characters stopped working -- at about the same time -- when using Prezi from Ubuntu has to be more than a coincidence.
Did Prezi coding change? An update from Ubuntu? What can we do to get Prezi back? -

I've seen there has been an update to flash players in the end of march...
if you want to check, it is flash player 11.2 now it seems: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
tell us if it helped you :)

I have updated to Chrome 18 and flash player 11.2, the latest ones, and still got same issue. The issue started suddenly and I did not change anything on my environment, that's why I think this is a bug introduced on latest Prezi release. Looking forward for a solution, specially because I will have an important presentation this week.

To echo RBDias, all my browsers -- Chrome, Firefox, and Opera -- use Flash Player 11.2, and none of them will allow me to enter Spanish characters from the keyboard.
I even tried installing Gnash, an open-source alternative to Adobe Flash. But Gnash, while playing flash video on YouTube, does not work on the Prezi site.
I know of no way to go back to the previous version of Flash, which seemed to work well.
Any other solutions? To use Prezi in class tonight, I had to cut and paste from a text editor to write in Spanish. I'll be grateful for a solution and appreciate the help! -

Ted, I am also working with this cut and paste approach, which is definitively the worst way of creating a presentation ever !!

Cutting and pasting is not the way to go! Prezi is such a great program -- we need it back!
On the Windows side of a dual-boot machine at home, I noticed that the Flash version in Chrome is 11,2,202,229, while the version in Ubuntu is 11,2,202, 228, if I'm not mistaken.
What's odd is that everything was working great until about 10 days ago. Is the problem mainly with Flash? If so, can Prezi address the issue in its coding? I wonder. -

I have suffered with the same problem that suddenly appeared. I have not changed anything on my machine. I hope for a quick solution to this problem otherwise I will do my presentations in another program. This situation is very unfortunate!

It now appears that accents are working again! I was able to insert accents and inverted punctuation in both Chrome and Firefox on Ubuntu.
I'm not sure what changed, but I appreciate this discussion and am glad Prezi is working again for all of us! -

Please help me - First I need to understand Ubuntu..My laptop uses Windows Vista and I can type easily in Spanish in Word. However, Prezi refusted to accept any characters imported, instead totally eliminating them, leaving me with a very unsatisfactory gibberish for text.
I'm in a class exploring technology in education and am finding the use of Spanish characters for text to be the most frustrating and limiting experience on almost all platforms I have studied.
Like many other presentation ware and test/game creating sites, Prezi is awesome, but typing all the text several times over, being restricted to font uses that do not enhance the presentation are a drag. I know there has to be people using Spanish text to do this work without having to utilize a box with drop down characters which slows the typing considerably.
Any suggestions, help is very appreciated.
