Hi,
I want to connect sound files to a Prezi presentation that will play automatically as someone goes through the presentation online and I am not clear from the notes in the manual how to do that. Could you give me more of an idiot's guide on how to do that?
Thanks, David

Hi David,
if you are familiar with Flash, you can create an swf that plays embedded sound. If you upload this into prezi, it will automatically play.

Hi Peter,
Thanks. Can you give some more detail on it?
It would be a useful resource for everyone if you can give a step by step description, which can also be added to the prezi manual.
Best wishes David -

Hi David,
you will need the Flash authoring tool (current version is CS4) from Adobe to create SWFs like I mentioned. Unfortunately I cannot give you more detail how to use that program.
You could also try looking for 'mp3 to swf' or 'wav to swf' on google. There are some simple programs that can do this only with some clicks.
We will consider making a detailed tutorial about the subject.

Hi Peter,
Great. Thanks for your help.
I have an image in the presentation sequence that I want the audio to play with. Can I link the SWF to the image directly in Prezi? What is the best technique for having the image displayed and the audio playing?
Best wishes David-
Hey David, I am by no means a Prezi expert, but here's something that could work... if you upload video .flv files, they will only start playing once they've been clicked on or their turn in the path comes... maybe you can somehow load a small, blank video with the audio you want, the video won't be seen and only the audio will play... it ain't perfect but it's something for now... also I'm not sure if the video will play if it's part of a frame or not, try that... a minuscule blank video in the frame won't be seen but heard... good luck
Oh and you can create .flv files easily through many programs, again just google .mov to flv or whatever, on macs you can actually just change the extension manually and it works... -

Hey thanks Karim for the tip on just changing the extension on a mac. So simple and it works!

Hi David,
unfortunately you cannot do this directly in Prezi. You can create an SWF and embed the image and the sound too, but you need to create controls to play and stop the sound. Otherwise Prezi will play it immediately after loading.
But this needs a bit of knowledge about the Flash platform. If you are interested you can download the trial version of Flash CS4 from Adobe and play around.
Bests, Peter-
I definitely think this is a feature that should be added one day - to be able to upload mp3/wav files to play either continuously, looped or for specific sections of the presentation. this is particularly of value if creating a self-running prezi that is narrated. I realize that we could just capture a prezi session as a video and add the narration - but this is a lot of extra steps (as is the above swf solution).

After reading several strings similar to this one it becomes clear that Prezi ought to add a voiceover feature. And fast. I, for one, am losing interest.

A narration tool would be very helpful. Surprised you cannot easily embed audio.

Prezi is supposed to be this PP killer, but it's really missing some things...audio and video embedding being the biggest...

I have a program that will convert my mp3 to SWF no problem, but it will not add an image! So now I can't add it to the Prezi to control the sound... I agree, Prezi really needs to make this a feature of their program to be able to EASILY add sound!

Hi
I uploaded music in swf.
Now i would like to remove it:)
How can I do it?
I uploaded audio file, and some icons appeared in the prezi. I'd like to remove the music and the icons.
Thanks -

What about this ? :
Please tell us your opinion. -

Well.
I'm new to this.
It's been SEVEN MONTHS, and no response, no other thoughts.
It's CLEAR to me that the Prezi folks are not effective in dealing with thoughts, words, people, or anything outside the scope of code.
As a designer, I use tools. I use them to create things for my clients.
Prezi has a natural advantage (that has been mentioned countlessly by others) but it is sitting still. Oh, yes, you've made some changes. But I'm not sure how those changes have made it easier to use Prezi in my work. The "Lock" feature, that doesn't work in Show. How does that make things better for my client? It doesn't. It's sort of like a Ted Nugent solo -- he does them for himself and because he can. But you certainly can't hum along.
Anyway, as a designer AND an entrepreneur, it's clear what Prezi needs to do to stay competitive:
1. Add and audio editing/synching system
2. Add the ability to convert to HD video with a simple click (like making a PDF).
3. Look at design tools (InDesign) and add elements that are common: size information, location, group/ungroup, shapes/lines, change font colors, allow embedded fonts, etc.
4. Create answers to questions before they arise. That is, write a How-to manual instead of relying on the community to ask questions that should have been answered in a start-up manual.
5. Allow third-party developers. Remember what happend in Beta vs VHS? The inferior product won because of superior business accumen.
I am having a hard time trying to justify to my clients the use of something that is flashy but difficult. They are not willing to pay for that for my time to create using it.
Come on, folks. If you're going to be a player, you're going to have to step up the plate. -

You have a growing product and customer base, this is a must!

Be sure to encode video also !! - the movie will be black but you can put a path on it and put it behind your object and then your object will play sound automatically

Hi there,
I hope we'll soon have audio on prezi as easy as uploading a picture, how soon? any estimate?
In the meantime could you please provide an easy to follow tutorial for embedding .flv or .swf files? Prezi would do.
Thanks, -

More than a year has gone by.
Powerpoint has surpassed Prezi in capabilities.
Prezi still won't embed audio.
Or even deign to create a user's manual.
You have a one-trick pony.
And the horse buyers are looking elsewhere.
What will it take for you to figure all of this out?
I'll check in again in a year and read through all
the same complaints.
Truly, truly amazing. -

Love the tool overall. I would like to add support to these voices. I teach multimedia and being able to add audio and video files directly is really needed. I know others that would purchase this product at my school feel the same way.
Prezi, feedback?

Unfortunately, Prezi never answers. Nor do they seem to work on this. I'm off exploring other things and only get back here when someone comments on this thread. What a terrible business model they have!

Has anyone found any decent alternatives to Prezi? Don't mind paying.
