Resize of 3D background
Prezi automatically places the background image relatively small to the entire canvass size. How do I enlarge a 3D background (or layered set of three for that matter), so that I get more depth to zoom? I can't seem to select the background to bring up the zebra.

Robin,
It seems like there's a scale relationship between the "canvas" and any BG image added. For example, the background seemed to scale differently (arbitrarily?) every time. I went back and forth between a few BG images, but seemed to get different results EVERY time I replaced a BG image. Quite unpredictable (i.e. frustrating) and why I have 25 versions of the same BG image.
I spent HOURS resizing my background image outside of Prezi (using Photoshop) until I was able to get the right balance of too small (i.e. lame) versus too big (to see the whole background). Maybe there's a better way, but I couldn't find it so employed this work-around. Now I have two dozen versions of the same BG but don't know which one is the "keeper". Would be great if one could click on an asset so see its filename.
Good luck. -

I am having the same issue and no one can seem to help me. This is very frustrating. What sizes did you use for your BG's?

Yep. I've got the same problem. Want more zooming depth and to be able to adjust the size of each 3d background on the canvas...help!

The workaround I've found for this is to keep the 3D background as is, and resize the whole prezi... Quite suboptimal but it kinda worked.

Thanks..I'll give it a whirl!

OK..no go. This works for one 3D background, but does not work when using multiple BG's. OMG..this is so frustrating. I cannot seem to find this out. As soon as it transitions to the other background it's SOOO big you can't see anything. I've tried small and large and everything in between.

I FOUND THE RECOMMENDED SIZE FOR 3D BACKGROUNDS!! I knew it was on here somewhere. It's 2000 x 2000 pixels. You can find this by mousing over the question mark on the Theme Wizard-3D Background title. This is the only place this information exists and it's odd that when I've asked people at Prezi that no one could give me this answer. Anyways. Hope this helps others who have been sharing my frustration.

How does that affect proper 3D background sizing/positioning ? IOW, how is the background sized and positioned when you use a 2000x2000 file?

Eww this resize does NOT work one way or other! The only way is to know what size is the normal 3D background and resize the pic in microsoft picture manager. No color pickers in prezi either

I do find it unbelievable that this functionality does not work propper, where it is the single most important feature to make 3d layering work. Unbelievable mistake by the Prezi team. If i was on the Prezi team i would be on top of this (both in this forum, where prezi is not replying, and in their owned tutorials).

Prezi is infamous for not replying to concerns at a timely manner. I had to contact them relentlessly over 4 weeks to have them manually renew my license (which you would think would be the real top of the list - taking money from clients).
I think that really just shows that I'm the chump for sticking with them. -

Having the same issue, every time I update the background image, it resizes. Bit of a pain, any solutions yet?

I'm having the same problem. I've killed the better part of 4 hours trying to find some kind of work around to no avail.
Does anybody have an answer to solve this? -

I can't believe Prezi Administrators have not addressed this publicly. There are obvious issues with regard to using several 3D backgrounds. The ones they use in the examples are very nice. I even changed the images to the size shown in their videos. To no avail. This is a great feature, but I've just simply used the 2000x2000 pixels and it's the best I can do. I really wish someone from Prezi will answer this with something more concrete.

After 10 minutes of looking around, I have found a solution! All you have to do is zoom out until it says "Can not zoom out more". Then, insert any random image and make sure it's REALLY, REALLY BIG! After that, go to the 3D Background settings and set the image(s) you want. Then click done and boom! Your background should be bigger than your image and that provides a lot of zooming space into your background. You can delete your random image you inserted after, if you don't want it. This method worked great for me. I hope it works for you.

Thank you so much. This worked great :)

Okay so another BG issue. They are all sized correctly, but when I zoom in to use them I only see a small portion of the 2nd and 3rd BGs..Help!!! I did try sizing them smaller but I get the same issue

I had good luck zooming completely out and then inserting an image temporarily using the "Image" tool in the header (without doing this the first 3D layer appears sized for the original zoom state.
Size the BG images to 3K pixels wide. However, the 2nd and 3rd images need to be nested inside wider and wider borders so that they are presented with the proper zoom level as you navigate between layers. Reducing each image by 50% seems to be a good place to start.

Great info, Rob! Will give this a try. Thanks for sharing!

After working on this project for a company wide presentation (tomorrow) for over a week, it suddenly just today decided to have a similar issue to what you're all describing. Out of nowhere it made my background a tiny image on the overall canvas and started telling me I couldn't zoom in anymore on my most normal not zoomed in parts of the screen. Then, when I tried to replace the background image it left me zoomed in quite a bit on my canvas but told me I couldn't zoom out anymore and I couldn't pan. Now it's telling me I can't zoom out anymore but when I try to zoom in it's telling me I can't do that anymore either. So it won't show my presentation at all.
I'm very worried because I still have some last-minute edits to add and I need to present this tomorrow. I've also been advocating the use of prezi and the purchase of a license at my company and this was supposed to be the "big debut" of it to our company to see how they like it.
I'm trying not to freak out, but I don't know what to do!

I have a bit of experience in this issue. Are you able to share this prezi with me?
I'll see if I can fix it (no guarantees though).
Click on the share button on the top right corner, then click invite to edit.
Send me the link and I'll see what I can do! -
