Prezi Activation each time PreziDesktop3 starts
Using PreziDesktop3 version 3.024 on Mac OS X 10.6.4: Every time I start it, it keeps asking for activation. This is kind of irritating when I want to work offline, and must go online just to let Prezi get "activated" every time I start it.

1This issue is discussed here in details:
http://community.prezi.com/prezi/topi...
Short version: it may be solved by deleting your encrypted data folder, and activating Prezi Desktop again, but this time it will be remembered by the application (at least for a while). The encrypted folder can be found here, and it is safe to delete it if you remember your Prezi email and password:
Mac OS X:
/Users/__YOUR_USERNAME__/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/com.prezi.preziDesktop/*
Windows Vista & 7:
C:\Users\__YOUR_USERNAME__\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.prezi.PreziDesktop\*
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\__YOUR_USERNAME__\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.prezi.PreziDesktop\*
(Please note that this was reported on Mac OS X only, but I included the Windows folders here too, just for reference.)
Since we weren't able to reproduce the problem, and our users reported that it happens randomly after working for a while, if you encounter it please report it in the topic mentined above and give as many details, as you can. Thanks for your help!

Hi, this must be a firewall or local internet system configuration issue. Please also allow cookies, and allow your computer to remember the password.

The trial desktop prezi needs an internet connection to activate on each start up, which seems to defeat the purpose of having an offline system. Does the Pro version require an internet connection as well?

everytime I start my PreziDesktop it asks me to validate it with e-mail and password, requiring an internet connection. Why?? this defeats purpose of having purchased desktop license...
love the product by the way!

Hi Rowan and Max
This is not supposed to happen. Could you look at the files under:
Mac OS X:
/Users/__YOUR_USERNAME__/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/com.prezi.preziDesktop/
Windows Vista & 7:
C:\Users\__YOUR_USERNAME__\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.prezi.PreziDesktop\
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\__YOUR_USERNAME__\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.prezi.PreziDesktop\
and check if you can rename/delete them?
If you don't have permissions to change these files then this might be the problem.
Let me know how it goes

Hi Lior,
Could you let me know if I'm looking in the correct place on a Linux system.
I'm checking under /home/pete/.appdata/Adobe/AIR/ELS/com.prezi.PreziDesktop but the folder is empty on both Debian Lenny and Ubuntu Jaunty. I also have a /home/pete/.appdata/com.prezi.PreziDesktop/Local Store folder with fonts, styles etc. in there which I can delete but it's recreated.
I appreciate this is as frustrating for you as it is for us!
Cheers,
Peter- view 3 more comments

Hi all
The solution posted by Peter worked for me but only after installing the libgnome-keyring.so libraries for 32bit system (I use ubuntu 9.04 64 bit). I did this using getlibs by typing
getlibs -l libgnome-keyring.so
getlibs -l libgnome-keyring.so.0
getlibs -l libgnome-keyring.so.0.1.1
on the command line. Then, after deleting the local folder ~/.appdata/Adobe/AIR/ELS/com.prezi.PreziDesktop and changing the ENV variable GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=1 as Peter did, I restarted prezi, typed my login information once and after that I can use it offline!
Thanks to all for the help on this issue-

Hey Everybody
Thanks a lot for sharing. If anyone still has problems please let us know.

I'm having a similar problem and was told to reply to this thread. My issue is that Prezi desktop will not start if the laptop is disconnected from the Internet. It runs fine when connected to the Internet and I do NOT get prompted to register each time it is started. The registration files are created properly and the user has write access to them. It curiously works fine on another laptop both connected and disconnected. Can't figure out what is different with this laptop. It's an HP Elitebook 8730W running Vista sp2 64-bit. Any ideas?

Hi Mark
Sorry for the delay in my response. What happens exactly when you try to start PreziDesktop3 without network?
Lior -

Lior, nothing happens visibly on the desktop but the process prezidesktop.exe starts in the task manager. Using latest version 3.025

Hi Mark
Could you please look at this thread and tell me if it helped:

Thanks
Lior-
try running Prezi Desktop in compatibility mode

Lior, Still does not launch when disconnected. I don't have any files names "Prefs" nor does my directory have the "zuilabs" or the long SID as part of the name. The directory in my user profile is named "com.prezi.PreziDesktop" with "Local Store" under that and 5 more directories under "Local Store".
I've also tried all the combinations of "compatibility mode" with no luck.
It runs fine when connected to the network but will not run when disconnected. -

what do you have under:
C:\Users\__YOUR_USERNAME__\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.prezidesktop\
this is where the license (which should be download on first login from the desktop) is saved. If you don't have it there, or have some problems reading/writing to these files, that could be the problem. could you try to delete the files there, rename them, check that you have full access to them.
Are you the admin of your computer?

1Dear all (who have the problem on a Mac)
Please try the following and let me know if it helped you:
1. uninstall Adobe Air (/Applications/Utilities/Abobe AIR Uninstaller)
and PreziDesktop3
2. delete everything from /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access related to PrivateEncryptedDatak
3. delete the whole ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR folder
4. download and install air again
5. download and install PreziDesktop3 again

Just delete the /PrivateEncryptedDatak for the PreziDesktop application and 1. takes care of 3. (so you don't have too)
-

in the end it didn't work.

Great! Please everyone, let me know if it worked for you as well.

Is it just me - or is Adobe Air a pretty buggy platform to be building apps in. I am a zinio subscriber too - lots of issues with that application in Air, and again now in Prezi. Development time may be speedier but the end result so far is 2 for 2 full of bugs, work arounds and unexplained issues.
I run 64Bit OSX 10.6.8 with 8GB of RAM. I have deleted the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Air etc directory - and it works once or twice and then cannot read the license file again.
Wish there was a proper Prezi Mac OSX App - Air isn't cutting it. -

This is happening everytime I exit from Prezi and try to open it again. Iv had to delete and reinstall everytime i exit from Prezi.
Running Mac OS X ( not lion) -

All advices to eleminate the error failed. The folder named "application" does not exist just like the folder named "adobe" in "application support". I start prezidesktop3 (vers. 3.056) on my MBA with lion.

I am still having this problem too. I do not have the files that you recommended people delete at the begining of this thread

Here Solution: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/840/cpsid_84...
Short version:
- apt-get install gnome-keyring
- Edit the file /etc/environment
* Append in new line "GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=default" -

i have the same problem like some people had before: I converted the prezi from a previous version of prezi desktop to the new one and tried to open it without success... i dont have any url, but uploaded the conversion result file at http://ge.tt/8yeFTm8?c
i hope someone can help me...

Cool, thanks for the details. I didn't really think it would work :-)

Another example: remove a specific media file from a .pez file: in the content.xml file, find the tags for it, remove the code and save. Finding the broken file is the main problem here: check them in the "repo" subfolder and search for their filenames in the .xml.

1Another variant of our official step-by-step solution was brought to our attention by a clever user:
- open Internet Explorer and check its cookie settings.
- If cookies are disallowed, please allow, at least for prezi.com.
- Then, log into http://prezi.com/login/?next=/settings/ with IE.
- Accept cookies if prompted, exit IE and start Prezi Desktop again.
Kind regards,
Katrin -

Hi,
Prezi Desktop goes on line to validate user every time I try to open it, and it shouldn ́t: when I decided to pay for Desktop, the main reason was that I wouldn ́t need to be on line. I have been reading that this is happening to many other people. Have you worked it out or found out the reason?
Thanks.
Marcela
