Path-Speed
It would be great if the path-function would allow users to set the speed in which a specific path-point will be accesed.

It would be great if you could just freehand draw the path, that way you could do a controlled fly by.
To control the speed and height of the path how about a record button. When you click record your mouse movement would fly the camera. Up and down could be maped to the path height, left and right would be maped to path speed.
This would give lots of controlover the camera.
Also the hight and speed of the path could be graphed right along the path as seen in purple and brown.

I agree totally with this. In fact I had an idea to put some poignant text quotes along a path so that the audience has a chance to "glance" them as I move from point to point. Problem is that the path moves to quickly for it to work.
I would have the interface simple like the rest of prezi. Set path speed. 1/4 speed, 1/2 speed, Normal X- 2 - and "blink" (blink being instant) -
Yes - this is an absolue must. Some of the zooms are far too fast and it becomes difficult to see exactly where you've just zoomed from - especially if you are following a path from a small object to a big one.

Nicole,
You can try the trick I described in this thread:

You could use the zebra scaling and then display the line size correlated to the speed of the transition - to control and convey the transition speed.

I'm going to check it all out :)

this would be especially great if you could have different speeds for different sections/transitions

I think this is great with all sorts of ideas flowing around, it's like a think tank and hopefully the results are just what we all want!

this is a great idea and I was hoping Prezi had added this function already. Some of the "vertigo-prone" audience members have told me that my talk was great, but at times too quick between transitions. This option is a must Prezi team!!! Otherwise, love the software

Hello all,
after spending hours looking for some code to do the job of timing on paths - I found something as a sort of workaround until all these changes come in. I have been experimenting with a little software programme called 'Key Presser' (which is freeware - there's now a new one shareware about $4.95 or so). As you can guess it presses keys for you on the keyboard and directs them at an active programme (in this case Prezi - and online in the browser).
The best thing is though I found is that you can get it to press a keyboard button e.g. Right Arrow / Left Arrow and at what time intervals in Milliseconds. And it will run a play list of keys so that you can design your Prezi and at what speed. I have managed to get it to start the programme in show mode, put screen to full screen and then run its script over a 10 point path as if in auto-play. I also managed to get it to return to the first point in the path almost instantaneously by sending 10 x 10 ms Left Arrow clicks where it starts all over again. Still experimenting but it seems to be a way around if you are stuck.
John B-
Thanks for this hint :-)

Couple of things will make it great:
- Choice of speed during navigation
Choice of time spent on a specific item (text or image)... sometimes, images may have a comic-sequence and may need some time to read through
Choice of the speed variation during zoom / pan => Why should it always be a constant speed? Allow choosing an interpolator, like linear, accelerate, decelerate, sine-wave ;)

Guys
Got really excited when I saw this post... then I read the time line... when will it be released. -

Seriously, Prezi developers - manage this topic, it is one of the most important missing items in your software. At least give us paying users an inkling of what is being developed, otherwise we'll be left to abandon your product.

I love all inovations being built into Prezi, being able to crop and to manipulate lines and arrows is great, but although it is great to have it in Prezi tools one can make the elements in other programs, but the path timer is something Prezi users can not do anything about, and it is a very important feature since the speed of a presentation is a basic part of it, and it is something many clients have asked me when we are looking at making a Prezi. Anyway, hope these feature is added soon.

Sometimes I would prefer to go slower from one screen to the next so the audience can follow a path
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
different transition speed. -

Would it be possible to configure autoplay to stay on each step a different amount of time? If we could do that, we could sync with the audio. Stay in step 1 ten seconds, stay in step 2 two seconds, stay in step 3 thirty seconds, etc...

Hi marccarrion - if I get your meaning this is sort of possible now if you use frames on the same spot. I have done a little experimenting - http://prezi.com/9frrzkbe-z0o/test/ - and have managed to get invisible frames on the same spot with multiples of 4 sec pauses (12 secs) and then move on. I haved used FLVs for the audio (in my case youtube FLV's) also on the same spot with their own path number and they moved on nicely after a four second sound burst from each one. It would mean editing your own FLVs for 4 second bursts but it is achievable I think - a good suggestion.
You could hide the FLVs behind a graphic if needed - which was not on the path, but within the frame area.

a great product is on market
users (sorry, CLIENT's) have been asking ONE important (and simple) feature for 2 years
developer/founder is/are nowhere.
no info, no communication from "team" (or limited to explaining why it is not possible, or how difficoult is to realize)
nobody knows what is in the background - but easy to find theories why this happening
typical magyar... -

This is the number one thing that people complain about. The workarounds - recording playback or creating an overabundance of frames - simply do not work. Playback always comes out poorer, in addition to having to present with the zoom function toolbar on the side, and the 'show' icon, etc (though I will admit, it gives you more control over the actual presentation). Having to use lots of frames totally ruins the flow of the prezi - it actually makes a presentation less impressive, which is disappointing, especially considering how impressive Prezi can be.
Just having a 3-speed setting would be fantastic, and would allow us to cater for all of our audiences. -

I agree. Different speeds would be a big help.
I hope they will add it soon. Otherwise, it is a great product!

Just stared using Prezi and speed/pan control is one of the first things I was immeidately wanting. I agree, however, that the interface needs to be very simple. -

Hi There
Has there been any improvement on the speed of transition issue - I see people have been talking about it for 2 years?
Is there any way to change the speed on a path.
Thanks -

EMPLOYEE
I’m
happy
A slow motion Prezi with music http://prezi.com/arreuj-jdysa/slow-mo... there is actually no paths on this Prezi but it can be done... I am working on the next step of path speed which I think would interest a lot of people - keep watching...
cheers

another possibility is the following, but it's only practicable if u don't have any other .swf in ur presentation, which can be slowed down: use an "cheat engine" which slows down the 'system time' of your flash player in other words use an speed hack!
-
-
Please guys! We're dying to get this feature.
The first question I'm asked when showing Prezi to clients and colleagues is "can we change the speed of that transition? It's too jarring."
This feature is an absolute must and the solution posited at the top of this thread seems very realistic. -

EMPLOYEE
I’m
here to help.
Hi Hooter!
Prezi's zoom can be slowed down by simply grouping content closer together and by reducing the size differences. Hope this helps.

Prezi developers,
I used Prezi to deliver a talk to my company a year ago this month. Suffice it to say that everyone, including the president of the company, loved it, and the company wants to make it our standard presentation software for 100+ users, but they are holding off until the path speed can be controlled, because I told them that it's the one feature that Prezi currently lacks that would just take it over the top.
What are you waiting on?
You have been sitting on the most requested feature for almost 3 years, ignoring your customer base and preventing yourself from getting who knows how many more customers, including my entire company.
Even replying to this thread with a simple "It's really hard to do for reasons A, B, and C" would be a better response than simply ignoring the issue. The workarounds don't work, and are not what your customers expect from a product which we are paying for.
Next month, my company's multiple Prezi licenses are up for renewal, and after deciding to renew for two years now, I cannot make the same decision this year with the current lack of movement on the part of the Prezi management/development team.
Please, an explanation is warranted.
Thank you.

I'm in the same boat, Jeff. I'd like to recommend Prezi to a much larger internal group of presenters, but the path-speed adjustment is a must before I will do that.
Hey there, Prezi, let's get some feedback, please!
Mike -
-
:- ( Sorry to say I gave up using Prezi yesterday! Been waiting to long for the path-speed adjustment!
-
-
This is getting frustrating indeed. When looking at tools like this -> http://bartaz.github.com/impress.js/ it's sad to see that this feature hasn't been implemented yet. If this doesn't get fixed before I have to renew my PRO account, I will not renew it. :-/
And the 3D stuff that impress.js has is also something I like, but that requires a different thread. -
-
What is the point of paying a subscription based license if you don ́t get any improvements ? And don ́t tell me that you continue improving the product !
You just keep bullshiting us with "new features" that are just "make up" improvements.
There are LONG requested features by your CUSTOMERS that are like this one nearly three years in "Under consideration".
Sorry guys but you are killing a "nice product" that could be an "excellent product"
I am fed up of coming back to this threats to see everything stays the same !! -
-
I fully agree with this idea, being able to change camera movement/speed is definitely a must.
Like Greg said in his first post 3 years ago(!!!), make it simple and make it possible to choose premade speeds at least. The interface could be as simple as an icon between pictures in the Path timeline that defaults to normal speed, click on icon to alter speed.
How hard can the coding of that be?
Also, the fact that staff and founder seems to be ignoring this thread is disheartening, and Prezi will suffer for it in the long run if that's how "difficult questions" are to be managed.
Seriously, "Under consideration" for 3+ years is making a mockery of both your customers and yourselves. -
-
I think that it would be more creative to do that. Good Idea!
-
-
New user. And this thread going on for 3 years is one of the reasons I decided not to adopt prezi for my corporation. Not allowing presenters to define the pace at which a presentation is played is ridiculous.
-
-
I recently started using Prezi at work and, although everyone loves it, the biggest criticism I hear is that they want to be able to slow down the transitions on large zooms or objects that are far apart. From this 3-yr thread, that seems like a pretty common concern.
The strength of a prezi is that it shows the entire structure of a presentation. If the zooms are too fast, people can't take the structure in and this undermines the major strength of your program.
We don't use auto-play, we like to click through the presentation's frames. If you can develop a way to control the time Prezi takes to move between frames, it would be of huge benefit to users.
To summarize, we desperately need a simple timer control between frames, nothing fancy as mentioned in previous posts. Just something easy and quick!
Here's the first prezi we've made, as you can see, much of the impact of it's structure is lost in the frenzy of speedy zooms:
http://prezi.com/2d3o2anxvjb9/anthony... -
-
To slow down speedy zooms, use Hidden frames and place them in the path, so that it takes two, three, or more clicks to accomplish the transition. This way, you can control the speed and zooming by controlling the size and number of the hidden frames.

Katrin or any employee,
Today I entered a ticket concerning the same interest discussed on this 3 YEAR OLD THREAD! I look forward to hearing from your company on this issue too.
Like many on this thread, I am looking for a way to set specific time delays in the autoplay feature between slides for an embedded PREZI we have on our web site.
I am not as concerned about the zooming or panning -- just the delays between slides.
PLEASE -- IS THERE ANY WAY TO DO THIS?
Thank you --douglas-
Douglas the thread is related to the pan speed between pathpoints in Prezi. You mentioned the actual delay at each path view i think? for your own website.
This might help. Not official but offers infinite control over the path transition delay for each view in prezi.

I came here hoping to find a solution to this issue (ca. 2009) but was sadly disappointed. Come on Prezi!
-
-
People love the prezis I give right until the moment they they get dizzy. I have learned not to do rotations or sudden changes in size (zooming) but I shouldn't have to. If i could just set it to go slower, then it would be a lot easier on the viewer.
-
-
+1 did a search in google for how to change the speed and this thread is the first Google return.
-
-
please, please, please fix this. This is one of the only things holding prezi back from totally making me never miss powerpoint ever again
-
-
I am new to prezi, and I just made my very first presentation. It was a very simple one, and yet even I found myself wanting to customize the paths (I wanted to follow an arrow around a circle)... I bet this drives people crazy when they are trying to make highly customized, professional prezis!!!!
Can't believe this hasn't been addressed - three years? Wow... I'm no programmer, but with the ideas submitted above, it looks like a relatively simple update.
All that to say... I love Prezi! Can't wait to use it again. -
-
-
-
I heard about Prezi earlier this year and became really excited about the product. As many others that have posted here, I'm very disappointed to find that there is no way to change the speed on a Prezi. I can't believe that after 3 years nothing has been done about this. How can someone else (Skillsoft) be able to come up with a work-around and Prezi developers have not? Skillsoft's work around looks great, but why should I have to pay $40 USD to get my Prezi to work at an appropriate speed? Is this ever going to get addressed? Is there some other, reasonable way to work around this that doesn't ruin the presentation?
-
-
I have a question maybe someone could answer I am doing a presentation for a class I just started using prezi if someone would be so kind as to friend me and help that would be great.
Thank you. -

Would Prezi developer consider this?
While prezi is cool in its own way, the marketing people don't seem to be pro-active and prefer to just lay-back despite repeated calls by users for important needed features.
In fact, there are many more cool effects in MS Powerpoint which Prezi seriously lacks - eg. multi-animation & transition effects, animation speed control, transition(path) speed control, and more!
It would only take Microsoft a little effort in imitating Prezi's zooming and cloud-based features and Prezi could be doomed overnight.
So, hope Prezi's marketing people and developers would take heed of the market's need before it's too late. -
