Mouse wheel won't zoom in and out in design mode
I just got a Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse model 1363. It has a scroll wheel that works fine in other applications, but it doesn't zoom in or out in any Prezi I'm designing, either in FireFox or IE. Actually, if I scroll for a long time, it'll erratically scroll in one notch or out one notch, but it's too unpredictable to use and it's way faster to just use the plus or minus buttons on the right. If I switch over to a Word doc or a long webpage, the scroll wheel works fine. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with the latest mouse drivers. Any ideas? If not, are there keyboard shortcuts that'll let me zoom in and out with the keyboard, or a combination of keyboard keys and the scroll wheel that I don't know about? I tried up/down/left/right and page up/page down...nothing happens in design mode. Thanks.

strange, we have never met this issue before. Can you zoom in/out using the up and down arrows of your keyboard in the same prezi? If yes and it's smooth, I cannot really think about anything else than there is a problem with the mouse. Ifthe up/down keyboard alternative does not work either, than there is a problem with the prezi you are editing. Very large prezis sometimes freeze and produce this issue. have you also tried to scroll-zoom in a new, empty prezi?Comment -

The up/down keys don't work on this prezi or a new, empty one. The mouse doesn't behave any differently on a new one, either.
Interestingly, the touchpad mouse on this laptop has a scroll on the side that works perfectly, and this prezi (or any others) on a different computer with a different mouse work perfectly, as well. It must be the mouse, as it doesn't appear to be the prezi...except that I don't know why the up/down keys don't work in design mode at all. They do in show mode, and perhaps that's the only place it was intended to work. The mouse doesn't work any better in show mode than in design mode.
The prezi seems pretty simple...only about 2 MB worth of pictures.

Me too, but I'm using a kensington trackball. This was working earlier when I did my first Prezi, but now it's just out of control. When scrolling in one direction, the screen suddenly reverses zoom directions. When I attempt to select an item, it zooms instead, random. I'm on Windows 7, Firefox 4. -

I have the same problem with a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000. The scroll wheel doesn't zoom, and the up and down arrow keys don't scroll, either. The scroll wheel and arrow keys work fine elsewhere, like on this page. I'm using Chrome 13.0 on Windows 7.
In IE, if I scroll and scroll and scroll, I will occasionally get a little spurt of zoom. Very odd. -

I don't know if folks are still experiencing this problem, but I am using a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 1000 on Windows 7 and I think I found the solution! I was having the exact problem described above, and I installed the latest Windows 7 driver for the model of mouse I am using. And Prezi zoom with the mouse scroll wheel now works perfectly! -

This topic is over a year old... I got a new laptop yesterday a Dell XPS Ultrabook... and I got a new mouse. A Logitech Anywhere blue tooth mouse... and the scrolling doesn't seem to work anymore to zoom. The scroll wheel works in any other app it seems... so I also hooked up a microsoft USB mouse and the scrolling doesn't work in that either... so I'm thinking it is something with the new Dell? I've upgraded the logitech drivers... and still no mouse wheel scrolling. Anyone else having a problem?-
Ok FYI... I don't know what happened or how it was fixed... I kept messing with various settings in the Anywhere mouse (SetPoint) and eventually it started working. It might have been when I switched the number of lines the scroll wheel advances... or when I installed a smooth scrolling extension to the browser. Either way, back in business!

WEll mine is even weirder. I have been using the same mouse and its scroll button to zoom in and out while designing prezis, and just today it stopped working!! THe scroll is fine for other programs, but as of today no longer works in prezi! -

I had the same problem with my Logitech anywhere MX; stopping the "smart scroll" option in the Logitech mouse menu solves the problem, but then there is no smart scroll on websites anymore. For the duration of prezi editing, however, it might be acceptable.

I also have the same issue with a Microsoft wireless mouse. The scroll is working great for other programs. I haven't used Prezi for the past few months, but when I last used it (Nov. 2011) it was working perfect! -

Hmmm. I'm experiencing the same thing. I have a logitech Performance MX mouse. Scrolling the wheel normally does not zoom in/out. But giving the wheel a quick spin actually makes it zoom in or out. So it seems like a lot of movement is required for the zoom to work.
The zoom buttons on my logitech keyboard works.
I'm using google chrome. -

I too have been using the same mouse for many months and had no problem scrolling with the wheel until today. Chrome seems to be the problem for me. If I open the same prezi in firefox, scroll zoom works fine. I made no changes to my mouse settings.

Same issue here; this time on two computers, the laptop that I use at home (which sports a wireless Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse (yes I realize I was scammed, bite me)), as well as the desktop that I use at work (which uses some unknown, cheaply packaged mouse) so I can confirm that it's not a technical fault of the mouse but rather of the program itself. In both cases the mouse scroll works for all other programs; the problem occurs when I try to zoom in and out while creating a Prezi.
I really adore using Prezi and it'd be such a shame if such a minor flaw ruined the wonderful experience and ease that Prezi offers. If someone could look into the problem soon it'd be greatly appreciated (:

1Hey, I had this problem and I I've recently resolved it. As I understood, the problem is in the Adobe Flash Player of your Chrome. Try to reinstall it or update and it'll be OK. Prezi works excellent! :) In a pinch you can install another browser and install Flash Player on it. -
