How do I insert a hyperlink into a presentation?

2Just enter the link as text starting with "http://". For example http://prezi.com Save and reload your prezi, all texts starting with http will turn into links.
A hint: while editing, you can select links with drag select, as click select will open the links for the moment -
-
-
This would be fantastic for us in creating easy navigation elearning
-
-
I second this suggestion....would love to have FB, Instagram, Wordpress icons, etc...to link out to my other sites.

If you have flash you can use it to enter text or an image and create the hyperlink to it and then upload the .swf file into prezi. This will give you what you want.
-
-
I don't have flash and I don't plan to have.
I think that an image hyperlink is a MUST feature, and to be honest, I am very disappointed it is not yet implemented. -

I am dissapointed to see this has been waiting for an update (not answer, but improvement of the program) for a year now.

I'm sorry you're disappointed. We get thousands of requests from our users for different features and we can only work on so many at a time, but we do note all of the requests and try to deliver as we can. In April, we updated with several major new features and last week we added Prezi Meeting. So, we're trying to constantly improve Prezi! :-) But we only have so many hands. :-(
Thanks for your patience.
Angelie-
As a teacher I am so thankful that you give us access to this amazing product for free. While it is not perfect, I do appreciate the innate brilliance of Prezi. Thanks again. Eileen

So, It is still not possible, right? I need to insert links on images

But it would be so useful. I am running Prezi (pay version) in my waiting room and would love to have a screen that said:
Here is the current CDC flu activity map

I have three links in one text box, each link begins with http://, but only the first link gets hyperlinked. I found that the only way to fix it is by putting each link into its own text box. Just throwing that out there ;)
-
-
Until they enable hyperlinking of the primary text in a Prezi, i've just inserted the hyperlink in smaller font size adjacent to the area I want to link from. For instance, I typed in the text in medium sized font (Calibre), then in a much smaller font I typed the link right next to it (http://calibre-ebook.com/). Not perfect, but it works.

Hi marhankb
Thank you for posting the workaround. I totally understand that users want this feature, but we have a LONG list of features that people are demanding. We are cramming to deliver what we can!
Workarounds like yours help us as we work on as many features as we can. :)

i am new to prezi and I like a lot of it. But three things stop me adopting it at work (I am a university lecturer):
1. the clunky hyperlink feature (having to write http://etc) and lack of image hyperlink
2. the (apparent) lack of makiing elements within the prezi invisible so they can by clicked open when required..or faded in and out.
3. The inabilty to change colour/font of a single word for contrast purposes
These 3 weaknesses lead me to stay with googledocs and slideshare -
-
Prizi is frustrating. Please make it easier to function between Power Point and Prizi!

Hi all,
This may help to workaround the hyperlink issue:
http://prezi.com/umj5l3iaytbm/hyperli...
Hyperlink workaround for text: The hyperlink is in white font body text on a white background and aligned closely underneath the blue title text Sandbox. Clicking on the 'Sandbox' will activate the hyperlink to a YouTube video.
It should work for embedding links to images as well.
[I would like to test this but exactly at that moment I got the first nag screen that I have overloaded my storage limit and to take a deep breath and reach for my credit card] lol
I would upgrade if the desktop version uploaded PDFs which for me is essential.
so soon I hope, cause Prezi is so fun and such a magic learning aid.
hth :))

since 2 years this topic is running. as most probably all of us here are prezi fans i would like to ask prezi to tell us when do they plan to have hyperlinks as a feature under the + sign on the triple circle.
-
-
Another way is to create a Word file, then create links using (Ctrl K), then saving the file as PDF (do not use the Print feature but the Saving as feature of Word). Go to your Prezi Edit Screen. Insert your PDF. Crop as necessary. Save and click on the link. It should work if you create your Prezi from the web, not from PreziDesktop.

Thank you jlafouge. It DOES work brilliantly. This was my main stopping point with Prezi. Image hyperlinks are huge. They are standard web lingua fanca and really are critically important.
For example, with these image links it will be possible to use Prezi as a front end / navigation aid to our educational investing product. We can now use Prezi to unify the experience of learning and using.
Uploading and image to Word 2010, adding a hyperlink to the image and saving as a pdf is a relatively painless process.
I have no idea why the criticality of this feature is not evident to the Prezi team and why anything that could be done so easily in Word can't be automated in a couple of days, much less two years!
However, we are grateful for such a tool because the Prezi concept will make the experience integrated and engaging in a way that would not have been feasible otherwise. -

This is a key feature that cannot be difficult to add, gets all my votes

Maybe someone has already written this, but I have been able to use image links at prezis for sometime now.
You just need adobe acrobat pro (mac) ou foxit (windows).
Save the images you want to assign a link to as pdf format (make sure it's not saed as a secure file)
Open that pdf
On adobe acrobat, choose >Tool >Advanced editing >Link Tool
Drag the cross around the image you want to link
Choose the link appearance (i always choose invisible rectangle)
Choose the link action (I pick open a webpage)
Press next and paste the URL you want the image to be link to
Press ok and voilà! now you save and insert this pdf into your prezi.
I'm in a hurry now, but I can tell you guys how to do the same thing using foxit.
if you don't believe this works, check out this prezi:

have fun guys! -

You're welcome. I just did it because linking an image in microsoft word and then making this .doc file into a pdf has never worked for me!

The Prezi software platform has definitely added a change to the way we convey and perceive presentations .
BUT!
The same platform has an exceptional opportunity to become a huuuge game changer in the way we create web pages and navigate on webpages.
Hyperlinks is probably one of the most fundamental steps in this direction, and i find it sad to see that this has not reached to a higher priority level within the organization. But then again i'm not aware of your expansion ambitions... -
-
I also am quite surprised that Prezi does not allow hyperlinks yet.
A majority of the documents I write anymore are now hypertext, with links to original sources and more information. My presentations should be the same way!-
Text hyperlinks can be added by typing in "http://" to the beginning of the text, save and exit and reload the prezi (ie: http://prezi.com). The links should work. For an image hyperlink check the link out I added below

emmankant, see the end of this thread (Microsoft Word can work) for email, web pages in 'any' text or image and there are probably more

Just discovered putting in Hyperlinks also works in OpenOffice.org Writer (open source (just as good as word)) - save as a PDF.

Hi, I'm a fresh fan of Prezi and I have a problem with hyperlink:
- I write correctly the address
- I save
- ...and what about the reload? I close the program and restart it...but nothing's changing, beside that the hyperlink gets underlined, but when I click on it no web page appears. Am I doing sty wrong? I don't have a reload button in the Prezi Desktop, is it in the online version?
Help ! -
-
hi benedetta,
this has been fixed, you simply need to change to show mode, to make links work. no need to reload. but please use http:// in front of your link
adam-
I'm having the same problem actually. My hyperlinks are written out with http:// at the front, but after saving and reloading they still don't work, and in the Desktop version clicking on them actually freezes up the computer so I get a "Not Responding" error.

I have tried everything mentioned in this help column to make my hyperlink work and nothing. I would love for Prezi to add a "hyperlink" option to the edit wheel. It would make everything so much easier!
Also, editing text is a pain. Each time I highlight text, it changes all the text in the text box. I would love it for it just to change the highlighted text.
Lastly, there are some issues going between the Prezi on my laptop versus the Prezi view on my iPad. Most of the issues I'm experiencing are the random movement of pics. Is there a way to correct this? -
-
Hi toddchemer,
Have you tried using Acrobat reader PRO (it has to be the pro one).?
It has worked pretty well for me for some time now.
What do you mean by random movement of pics?
regards, -
-
Thanks for you response, very speedy :) I will try Acrobat Reader Pro and let you know.
The comment about the random movement of pics referred to when I created a prezi on-line and then tried to open it with my Prezi Viewer App on my iPad, which I find really convenient. However, a problem I've had is that edits I make to the prezi on-line do not always appear on my iPad, and it can be very frustrating. In fact, one time I had to recreate an entire prezi because of this problem. I don't know if it is a common problem or just me, but that is what I was referring to. Besides that, I love me some Prezi :) -

I think the quickest way to insert several links is to put all the links you need for a project in a single Word file. Open Word, Click on Page Layout, Size, A6 (A6 if you do not need too many links so that you do not have to crop too much inside Prezi). Click on Control K to enter your links. Enter at the top of the Link window the text to display. Enter the link itself at the bottom of the window. Click on Save As (not Save nor Print) Choose PDF format, save the file in PDF. Then when you are in Prezi (on the Web, not on the Prezi on your desktop), place part of the PDF you need wherever you need it. The text will appear and when you click on the link it will send you to the page you have indicated.
Of course you probably need the latest version of Word, or at least a version which allows to save a document as a PDF. Other Word processings might work too if they have the same option.
You could also, before hand, go to all the web pages you need to have a link for, save the links in Note Pad and copy and paste later into your Word file once you know which text to show in your presentation. You could even put them into the right order of display. -
-
Guys, I made this demo prezi in 5 minutes.
Check it out: http://prezi.com/nwq3ikqfw5r_/link-in...
As you can see, I used adobe acrobat pro. (not the reader, sorry, the acrobat pro is the one!)
regards, -
-
Oh, I forgot, if you click on the link while in fullscreen mode, some browsers will open the link, but in the background, so you have to exit full screen and you should be able to see the linked page open/being opened.

Is it possible to create text hyperlinks rather than just url addresses?
I am creating an induction programme using Prezi and in certain sections I would like the user to be able to 'Click here' to download a PDF example rather than having the PDF within the Prezi.
Anyone know a work around for this?
Thanks
Jamie

hello Jamie,
take a look at this prezi and see if this is what you are looking for.

If so, I posted how to do it here sometime ago. Check it out.

Hi Deni,
Thanks for your answer.
If you feel you can help other users out with their problems, feel free to respond to other posts as well. You could be upgraded to a Prezi Champion, earning you beta access to new features!
Cheers,

Hi Bas, I do feel I can help others with prezi.
Besides responding to posts (as I did to Fred ́s post below), what else do I need in order to be upgraded to Prezi Champion?
thanks,
Deni -

Nothing, if you're doing a great job by helping others out you can be upgraded to become a Prezi Champion. Thanks for helping fellow Prezi users!

Thanks, everyone for the ideas. I do have Acrobat Pro. I looked to see if I could make the background transparent. So far, I have not. Any suggestions?
fred -
-
Hi Fred,
I believe one cannot make transparent background with adobe pro.
If you need a pdf to have transparent background there would be a workaround.
Import your pdf into Photoshop. Select color range and select the color of the background. Then invert selection, copy the content, make a new file with transparent background, paste your content and save as PNG (interlaced)
look at this prezi
http://prezi.com/t218_iuua2t6/test/?a...
where I've tried to do it. There are two "tests", one is about inserting text hyperlink and the other is the "pdf"-png with transparent background. I put a yellow background in the prezi so you can see the difference, since it wouldn't be a problem if the background were white, correct? The only problem with this is that you'd loose any hyperlinks in the pdf, since it would be converted into a png image......
hope I could help

I would also like to express my surprise that this feature has still not been added and to "vote" for it. It just seems such a simple thing to enable, after all you've managed to enable it for this comment box! How hard could it be to add it to the actual product? (sorry about the link)
-
-
Ditto, I agree that hyperlinks are fundamental functionality. The workarounds are simply productivity killers. Yo Prezi team, assuming you are listening, please stop adding other stuff, and bolt in this one feature. Simple is what customers are looking for these days. Or, send me the code and I'll write it for you ;-)
-
-
Yes, I think what folks are really looking for is more like the HTML anchor tag capability, so for example, I might assign a hyperlink to an image in my Prezi. This is visually preferable over a http... text string floating around in our presentation.

I'm a new user and in my opinion, this feature is not correctly develop, why do we have to exit to verify the link ?
And the common ergonomics is not respected, I should see a hand when I roll over the link.

thank you
