Can't insert SWF into path (Urgent)
Hi,
I have a Prezi consisting of a large number of swfs. Connecting them all with a path is fine at first, but if I want to insert a swf between two others (By grabbing that section of the path's mid-point and dragging it to the swf I want to insert), the mid-point doesn't attch to the swf, though It works fine with Videos and Images. My SWFs are all full of graphics, so it isn't that I am dropping the path on a transparent section. These same swfs are added fine if I click on them (Though they are added at the end of the path which is no good).
You can see the problem in the file 'Presentation' which is in my account. I have the same problem in Desktop and Web versions.
Really need some help with this.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hi, please give us the email address you used to register. Then we'll be able to check your account and the prezi.
-
Inappropriate?Hi I have checked your prezi and can see the issue. I have forwarded this topic and you prezi link to our developers, who can analyze this. I have also found that your license storage limit (100 Megabytes) has been expired.
-
Inappropriate?I have posted today about the same issue
Could you indicate when it is likely to be fixed please.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Dear Pedr, John,
thank you for the detailed bug description. We can confirm the problem. We try to fix it in the future.

Inappropriate? This is a huge problem. It makes the program virtually unusable for us. This site is riddled with reports of such bugs which you have been promising to fix for a long time. Do you actually plan to fix any of them, or does your reply effectively mean 'We know about it and have decided not to bother fixing it?"
I’m pissed off
-
Inappropriate?Pedr,
sorry we can't fix it now. This site is full of bugs because it's a bug reporting system.
But answering your question: we plan to fix all of them. But I can't promise you any deadline.

Inappropriate? But we do need to know if you are going to start being transparent about your timetables for fixing things, because OUR work, where we have paid to use a set of tools depends on it working each and every time we try and do the thing that you initially set out.
You seem to have have very strong views about your 'business' model but either you need to react at the speed of open source projects, OR you need to release a robust set of tools.
I want this project to succeed, but beyond a 'used it once, very interesting, but too many bugs to really work level'. It is a great trick to get everyone to use this product once, the thing that will sustain you in the long run is seeing time after time repeat work being created with this tool, and that will only start to happen when the major things get fixed quickly and efficiently
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?John,
we won't transparent about our timetables. We can't, we don't have. We not exactly believe in long term timetables.
What we know: some illustrator swf files behaves strange. What is the source of your swf? How have you generated it?

Inappropriate?I have to agree with John. It is a very buggy bit of software. And very expensive for something so full of technical issues. Like John, I will not be using it again (though I am forced to use it now due to time constraints). I find it a shame that you have not documented its numerous bugs and failings more clearly in an effort to sell more licenses, and I dread to think of the number of people who have got themselves into serious trouble due to Prezi's failings. I am lucky enough to have had a lot of experience with software development, and have found work-arounds for most of the bugs, but I'm sure many other people have ended up pulling their hair out.
Peter, you say that you know that there is an issue with illustrator files, so why is this not on your website. How can you expect people to make a fair decision about buying your software when you are sitting on known bugs.
The sad thing is that Prezi is a nice idea and quite close to being a decent bit of software, but it desperately needs more work on some of its massive failings.
I’m disapointed

could you please send a list of bugs you have found?
we know illustrator issue because John helped to isolate the problem. Before you guys I had not known about the issue. Do you also use illustrator? -
Inappropriate?Type some text in Illustrator on a page set up the size you want
Export as swf
Import into prezi
select path
click the swf, it is added as last item
drag that off so it is not selected
drag middle ball onto swf - nothing
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?John,
which illustrator you use? can you try to export as pdf?
I guess you export swf file into flash 8 version.

I am using Illustrator CS4. Any SWF exported from it cannot be inserted into a path as described by John above. It exports to FP 9 as default. It offers no options to choose which AVM to target so I assume it is as an AS3 SWF. The fact that you can attach a path to the swf so long as it is not using the middle section suggests to me that the problem isn't the swf version. -

As you can only put a pdf in via the online tool then there is no value to me as I am ONLY working on my desktop.
And online only works when you can BE online. Not on a plane, or a train, or in my client office where their network is closed adn there is no wireless..... Or if you want to wait for ages for all your stuff to upload only to put a pdf in, and then download it all again. That would be the LEAST cvost effective workflow I have ever seen....
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I've reported this problem several months ago already, with detailed reproductive steps and example files. Today it is again proving to be an issue. I hope this can be put up high in the priorities list. It's a really big bug that's though to work around.
-
Inappropriate?Nothing ever gets fixed. You should know that by now.
I’m never going to use Prezi again.
-
Inappropriate? This is new software, frankly I eagerly await the outcome as I'm desperate for this fix also, but still this is better than anything else on the market. So heres my support for the Prezi team.
I’m thankful
